The Bellator 238 weigh-ins are out of the way. The main event is official. And finally, Cris Cyborg and Julia Budd will collide.
Budd (13-2) is the reigning Bellator women’s featherweight champion. While some narratives might have you forget that, she has long been the most formidable 145lb’er not named Cyborg or Nunes. After that pair met up just over a year ago, Budd and Cyborg was about the biggest fight you could make in the division, outside of a rematch between Cyborg and Nunes themselves.
And we know that’s not likely to happen.
Cyborg will be looking for her fourth major championship at Bellator 238. A strong start in a promotion that will allow her to dabble in boxing, wrestling, and other pursuits. Budd will look to cement her legacy.
In the co-main event, meanwhile, the featherweight grand prix continues. Up next, Darrion Caldwell vs. Adam Borics. Caldwell has the wrestling base, Borics has some flashy finishes. Which makes for a classic but no less interesting pairing, especially if Borics shows his takedown defense has improved since the Pico fight.
