Los Angeles, CA — Henry Corrales is always game for a fight, and this weekend at Bellator 238, he has just that with Juan Archuleta.
Both men were eliminated from the featherweight grand prix last September. In Archuleta’s case, it was a title fight against Patricio Putbull. Corrales, meanwhile, was out-wrestled by Darrion Caldwell.
The good news is, there are some stakes to this fight, and a win for Corrales opens up a lot of opportunities.
“I think this is a big fight with Juan, for sure,” he told Cageside Press heading into the bout. “You win a big a fight, you get another big fight, so that’s what I’m thinking. Tournament or not I don’t give a sh*t.”
Archuleta of course was on an 18-fight win streak prior to the grand prix. And coming off a title fight, he still has a high profile — something Corrales can take advantage of.
With the fight scheduled for January, the Holidays might have been a bit on the lighter side this past year. But Corrales isn’t sweating that. “Dude, it’s all good. I’ve been tough worse through the holidays,” he said. “When I was a teenager once I was in jail during Christmas, so it’s all f*cking good.”
What makes Archuleta dangerous, Corrales told us this week, is both ability and experience. “The guy has 24 fights, you know. He’s down to fight, throws big shots, good wrestling, good conditioning. A lot of these guys are f*cking dangerous man.”
That said, Corrales sounds more than up to the challenge. ‘Hell yeah! I’m in good shape, I’m ready to go and I’m ready for this guy, that’s for sure.”
Henry Corrales faces Juan Archuleta on the main card of Bellator 238, airing live on DAZN this Saturday, January 25, 2020.
