A number of recognizable names will head to Singapore for ONE Championship: King of the Jungle next month. On Thursday, the promotion announced the full card for the event, which will take place February 28, 2020 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.
In the main event, multi-sport star Stamp Faitex, fresh off a in win MMA, will defend her atomweight kickboxing championship against Janet Todd. The pair met previously, under the Muay Thai rule set, with Fairtex winning the promotion’s inaugural atomweight Muay Thai championship. Todd will look for revenge in kickboxing, with a title once again on the line.
In the evening’s co-main event, strawweight Muay Thai champ Sam-A Gaiyanghadao will defend his title against Australia’s Rocky Ogden.
MMA action, meanwhile, sees Yoshihiro Akiyama return. ‘Sexyama’ — popular in his UFC run — has not won a bout since 2014 against Amir Sadollah at UFC Fight Night 52 in Saitama, Japan. He lost his follow-up bout against Alberto Mina the following year, a close split decision, then split the UFC altogether. Joining ONE in 2019, Akiyama lost his first bout, against Agilan Thani, by unanimous decision.
Akiyama (14-7, 2NC) takes on Sherif Mohamed (9-5) at the event. Mohamed is 1-3 in his last four fights, and 0-3 under the ONE banner overall.
