Brandon Moreno vs. Jussier Formiga is among a trio of new fights revealed for UFC Brasilia.
As is often the case, ask and ye shall receive. In Brandon Moreno’s case, he asked for Jussier Formiga following a win at UFC 245. On Thursday, in a statement on their official website, the UFC confirmed the bout would happen at next year’s UFC Brasilia card.
Also on deck for the Fight Night even, Enrique Barzola meets Rani Yahya, and Veronica Macedo takes on Bea Malecki.
Brandon Moreno (16-5-1) is on the right path since returning to the UFC earlier this year. After fighting to a draw with Askar Askarov at UFC Mexico City, he earned a unanimous decision win over Kai Kara-France at UFC 245 earlier this month.
Formiga (23-6) will be hoping to bounce back after falling to Joseph Benavidez earlier this year. Benavidez, of course, is fighting for the newly vacant flyweight title in February. Prior to that fight, Formiga had won four straight in the 125lb weight class.
Moreno vs. Formiga will be contested at flyweight, while Barzola vs. Yahya goes down at bantamweight. Barzola (16-5-1) will be making his bantamweight debut in the UFC, having gone 5-3 as a featherweight. He won The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2 tournament as a lightweight in 2015. Rani Yahya (26-10, 1NC) will enter the contest off a loss to Ricky Simon at UFC 234, which snapped a three-fight win streak.
Finally, Veronica Macedo (6-3-1) looks to make it two in a row against Bea Malecki (3-0), and will move to bantamweight to do so.
UFC Brasilia (UFC Fight Night 170) takes place March 14, 2020 at Ginásio Nilson Nelson in Brasília, Brazil. The UFC also confirmed a number of previously reported fights for the event on Thursday. The current line-up is:
Brad Tavares vs. Antônio Carlos Júnior

Johnny Walker vs. Nikita Krylov
Maryna Moroz vs. Mayra Bueno Silva
Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos vs. Alexey Kunchenko
