Featherweight Megan Anderson has her first fight of 2020 lined up, as she will take on Brazilian newcomer Norma Dumont.
The recently revealed UFC Norfolk card now has a fight attached to it. Women’s featherweight Megan Anderson revealed on her official website Monday that she will face promotional newcomer Norma Dumont at the February event. The promotion has yet to officially announce the news.
“Let’s keep that momentum going into 2020 so Feb 29th, SAVE THE DATE!!! We’re going to battle again in Norfolk, Virginia against Brazilian Norma Dumont,” Anderson wrote in a blog post on her site.
Anderson (10–4) is a former Invicta FC featherweight champion who is one of two remaining high profile women’s featherweights in the UFC (the other being Felicia Spencer), outside champ Amanda Nunes. The towering Australian has been trading wins and losses since entering the promotion, but will enter UFC Norfolk off a win over Zarah Fairn Dos Santos at UFC 243 in her native Australia.
While the octagon heads to nearby Auckland, New Zealand earlier in February 2020, it’ll be a U.S. showdown for Anderson, who trains in the U.S. at Glory MMA alongside the likes of James Krause and Grant Dawson.
Norma Dumont (4-0) is an undefeated featherweight out of Brazil. ‘The Immortal’ has not fought since August of 2018, but has submissions in two of her four wins.
UFC Norfolk is set to take place February 29, 2020 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, VA. The card is expected to air on ESPN+ in the U.S., per the promotion’s official broadcast partner.
