Magomed Ankalaev got the finish with a beautiful headkick knockout over Dalcha Lungiambula at UFC Moscow.
The featured preliminary fight at UFC Moscow featured a light heavyweight showdown between Magomed Ankalaev and Dalcha Lungiambula. Dagestan’s Ankalaev entered the night on a two-fight win streak, while South African kickboxer Lungiambula had won six straight, including his promotional debut last time out against Dequan Townsend at UFC on ESPN 3.
Ankalaev started the fight attacking the body, throwing kicks and keeping out of the range of his much smaller foe. Dalcha was looking for the right hand but he struggled to get to Ankalaev’s large frame. He was doing a good job of keeping Dalcha Lungiambula up against the fence and keeping the range. However Lungiambula landed a right hand that briefly dropped Ankalaev. He then got the fight into the clinch to recover. Ankalaev would soon separate, ended the round on a flurry.
Magomed Ankalaev got the takedown to start the second round, with the Dagestani fighter landing shots from the top. Ankalaev got into the mount and started landing brutal elbows. Dalcha had no answer to get out from the bottom; he tried to muscle out of the position, but couldn’t. Khabib-style top pressure from Ankalalev was on display in the entire second round. Ankalaev soon opened Dalcha up and would end the round on top after a dominating five minutes for Ankalaev.
Ankalaev opened the third with great head movement as Dalcha was coming forward trying to land punches. He slid out of the way of a combination, and then landed a front kick that landed clean on Dalcha, and followed up with a right hand that knocked out Dalcha Lungiambula and ended the fight! An absolutely beautiful knockout by Magomed Ankalalev.
