Dominick Reyes gave Chris Weidman a rude welcome to light heavyweight at UFC Boston Friday night.

It didn’t take long for Dominick Reyes to demonstrate the difference between a true 205lb’er and a big middleweight. At UFC Boston on Friday night, Reyes fought off a couple of takedown attempts from the former middleweight champ, then put Weidman down with a punch. Follow-up strikes sealed the deal, but it really was a matter of time. Over within a round.

Whatever you think of Weidman’s chin, shot or not, it was also clear that he was giving up a considerable strength advantage at 205lbs. Takedowns he would have landed clearly weren’t working, and he was unable to control Reyes the way he was able to control opponents at 185lbs.

Weidman (14-5) said post-fight that he’ll be back, so talk of retirement will wait for now. But a big question will be whether that return comes at middleweight or light heavyweight. The 35-year old has lost four of his last five, and needs to plan his next move carefully. In the meantime, see how the pros reacted to Dominick Reyes stopping Chris Weidman below!

Did He Really Just Say That?

Call Him Out!

But Not Him!
