Greg Hardy illegally used an inhaler before the third round but still came away with a unanimous decision at UFC Boston due to a commissioner mistakenly allowing the use.
After a DQ in his UFC debut, Greg Hardy rides into UFC Boston with two straight knockouts under his belt. The former NFL All-Pro will take on Australian Ben Sosoli. Sosoli had won four straight fights by knockout before an eyepoke ended his Contender Series fight.
Greg Hardy ate a counter left hand off a leg kick from Sosoli. Sosoli was ripping his quick left hand through but wasn’t connecting cleanly. Hardy threw a head kick up on the right side, but couldn’t get through the defense. The fight slowed down a bit, with a huge leg kick landing for Hardy. Hardy landed a big right hand after getting caught by a body shot, then followed up with an outside leg kick. Hardy landed a pair of huge uppercuts that stung Sosoli. Sosoli landed a pair of left hands, but Hardy was slicing through his guard with heavy right straights. The former NFL All-Pro danced his way to the end of the round.
Hardy went with a body kick in the second round but ate a counter left hand. Hardy’s leg kicks were adding up and Sosoli struggled to close the distance. A right hand landed for Hardy as Sosoli’s left hands were no longer landing. Not much was going on on either side, but Hardy was in control of the fight. He ended the round taunting again.
Greg Hardy landed a counter-right hand to start the third round. Apparently in between rounds, Hardy took a puff from his inhaler, which is illegal. Nothing came of that yet, and Hardy pounded away at the lead leg of Sosoli. One leg kick swept Sosoli off his feet briefly, and he ate a hammerfist on the way up. Sosoli landed a left hand, but Hardy simply ate it. Another round controlled by Hardy in a fight where he showed the diversity of his striking.
The bout was officially announced as a unanimous decision because a commissioner told Hardy he could use the inhaler in between rounds.
