Not much dissension in the ranks in this week’s edition of our staff picks, this time choosing the winners for UFC Copenhagen.
The UFC was making its debut in Copenhagen, Denmark on Saturday, with a Fight Night card pitting Jack Hermansson against Jared Cannonier in the main event. Hermansson’s ascent in the 185lb division had been nothing short of impressive over the past year. Cannonier, meanwhile, had made a personal journey from non-athlete, to world class fighter, and was hoping to build off a win over Anderson Silva when he entered the octagon at UFC Copenhagen.

In a rare turn of events, our writers were at a near consensus for the entire UFC Copenhagen card. All writers responding sided with Jack Hermansson in the main event. Newcomer Mark O. Madsen was also a unanimous selection in the co-feature. All but one writer selected Brazil’s Alex Oliveira in the card-opener, meanwhile.
The same situation surrounded Nelson vs. Burns, with all but a single writer expecting Burns to get the better of the Icelandic fighter.
Khalil Rountree Jr. was another unanimous pick, while all but a single writer chose Michal Oleksiejczuk over Ovince Saint Preux.
We’ll know how our picks did soon enough!
