China’s Yan Xiaonan will look to make it five straight wins under the UFC banner when she faces Ashley Yoder at UFC Singapore.
With one Chinese star claiming gold in the UFC (that would be newly crowned strawweight champion Weili Zhang), the UFC is sending Yan Xiaonan back into action. Per a report by ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, Xiaonan is set to face American Ashley Yoder at UFC Singapore next month.
The 30-year old Yan (11-1, 1NC) is undefeated through four fights in the UFC. ‘Fury’ has faced some impressive competition in that span, picking up wins over Kailin Curran, Viviane Pereira, Japan’s Syuri Kondo, and most recently, former Invicta FC champ Angela Hill.
With champ Zhang skyrocketing in popularity, the UFC would no doubt love to see another bonafide Chinese star emerge. And a fifth straight win in the division could make things very interesting moving forward for Yan.
As for Yoder (7-4), she’s won her last two fights, after snapping a 3-fight skid to start her UFC tenure. Most recently, she earned a unanimous decision against Kondo at UFC Greenville.
UFC Singapore (UFC Fight Night 162 / UFC on ESPN+ 20) takes place October 26, 2019 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. A grappling fan’s dream serves as the main event, as Ben Askren faces Demian Maia. Michael Johnson vs. Stevie Ray, Greg Hardy vs. Jarjis Danho, and Frank Camacho vs. Beneil Dariush are among the fights expected to feature.
