Russia’s Alexandra Albu will look to bounce back from her first career loss when she returns against promotional newcomer Loma Lookboonmee at UFC Singapore.
Alexandra Albu is the latest addition to the UFC Singapore card. On Tuesday, ‘Stitch’ announced on social media that she was fighting UFC newcomer Loma Lookboonmee (properly Konklak Suphisara) on the Singapore card next month. While not officially announced by the UFC, the strawweight had previously posted footage of herself signing a UFC bout agreement on her Instagram story.
Albu (3-1) last fought against Emily Whitmire at UFC on ESPN 1 in February, falling victim to a first-round rear-naked choke. The loss snapped a two-fight win streak in the UFC for Albu. However, it was also her first fight in the promotion since 2017. In fact, Albu has made the walk to the octagon just three times. That’s since joining the company in 2015, as a bantamweight.
The Russian fighter turned heads upon signing with the UFC, thanks to a social media presence that frequently highlights her fitness-model good looks as often as it does her fighting. While that hasn’t let up, it appears she’s all in on the fight game. She’s competing twice in a calendar year for the first time as a professional.
Lookboonmee (3-1), fighting out of Thailand, sports an identical record to Albu’s. She’s fought twice for Invicta FC, most recently earning a unanimous decision in June. That came against Monique Adriane at Invicta FC 35. The Tiger Muay Thai fighter is the first ever Thai athlete signed by the UFC.
UFC Singapore (UFC Fight Night 162 / UFC on ESPN+ 20) takes place October 26, 2019 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. The card is headliner by Ben Askren vs. Demian Maia.
