The UFC Copenhagen Main Event is set, as Sweden’s Jack Hermansson will take on American Jared Cannonier atop the card this September.
The UFC’s debut in Copenhagen, Denmark has its main event set. During UFC 240’s fight week, the promotion announced that Jack Hermansson would take on Jared Cannonier atop the UFC Copenhagen card (UFC Fight Night 160 / UFC on ESPN+ 18). It’s a big stage for Jack ‘The Joker,’ who is in the midst of a four fight win streak at middleweight, and sits at 4th in the UFC’s official rankings.
Hermansson (20-4) last competed at UFC Fight Night 150 in Florida in April, stepping in to replace Yoel Romero on short notice against Jacare Souza. It was a quick turnaround for Hermansson, who had competed a month earlier at UFC Philadelphia. However, ‘The Joker’ made the most of it, earning a unanimous decision win over the dangerous Brazilian veteran.
Hermansson has also defeated David Branch, Gerald Meerschaert, and Thales Leites on his current win streak. All three of those wins came via a finish.
Cannonier (12-4) has won two straight fights in the UFC’s middleweight division, earning wins over David Branch and Anderson Silva. The latter, however, came when Silva injured his leg after eating a kick from Cannonier. Still, Cannonier’s run at middleweight has been a success thus far, and he’ll look to continue that in Copenhagen.
UFC Copenhagen takes place September 28 at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark.
