Team Alpha Male’s big night at UFC Sacramento had Urijah Faber and co. earning some extra coin.
UFC Sacramento saw the triumphant return of Urijah Faber, a blistering knockout by Josh Emmett, and another from Andre ‘Touchy’ Fili. All three, of course, are part of Faber’s Team Alpha Male, and all three picked up bonuses at the Fight Night card Saturday.
Not a bad haul. Once again, the UFC forwent handing out a Fight of the Night bonus for the event. Instead, Faber, Emmett, and Fili, as well as bantamweight Jonathan Martinez, picked up the Performance of the Night awards.
Faber’s came after over two years in retirement. The ‘California Kid’ (35–10), now forty, returned to earn the fastest knockout of his career at UFC Sacramento, stopping upstart Ricky Simon in just 46 seconds. In fact, the TKO of Simon was Faber’s first knockout of any kind under the UFC banner, and the first period since 2007 at WEC 25.
Emmett, who improved to 15–2 on the night, finished Mirsad Bektic with just over 30 seconds remaining in the opening round to earn his Performance bonus. Coming off a knockout of Michael Johnson at UFC Philadelphia, he’s put together two impressive stoppage wins in the featherweight division currently ruled over by Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway.
Fili (20-6), another player at featherweight, has also strung together two wins with his finish of Sheymon Moraes. And Ricky Simon (11-2) earned his first finish in the UFC, ending Pingyuan Liu’s night with a knee on the preliminary card.
All four fighters will receive $50,000 U.S. for their efforts.
