Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos might not be getting the ranked opponent he deserves, but instead, we’ll be treated to a banger of a fight between him and Li Jingliang at UFC Shenzhen.
Combate first reported the addition to UFC Shenzhen.
Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos is on one of the more impressive runs in the promotion, winning his last seven fights. To keep it going, he’ll have to get by one of the toughest fighters the UFC has to offer in China’s Li Jingliang.
Li Jingliang is a fan favorite with an 8-3 Octagon record. Of those eight victories, five have been by knockout, including a body kick stoppage in his last fight, which also took place in his home country. “Leech” has earned performance bonuses in four of his last five fights, with two Fight of the Night awards and a pair of Performance of the Night bonuses. Jingliang is known for his exciting brawling style, and has won six of his last seven fights.
Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos is a very exciting up-and-comer. Prior to signing with the UFC, he had a 14-4 record with 13 stoppages. He didn’t get off on the right foot in the Octagon, dropping a split decision to current Cage Warriors champion Nicolas Dalby in 2015. However, he’s undefeated in seven fights since then, with impressive victories over Max Griffin, Sean Strickland, and most recently, Curtis Millender.
UFC Shenzhen takes place on August 31 from the Shenzhen Universade Sports Centre Arena in Guangdong, China. The card is headlined by a strawweight title fight between powerful champion Jessica Andrade and up-and-coming Chinese contender Weili Zhang.
