Following UFC 239 in Las Vegas on Saturday, tune in for the post-fight press conference, featuring the biggest names from the UFC’s biggest show of the year.
Two title fights. Another appearance by Jon Jones. A stacked card including names like Luke Rockhold, Ben Askren, Diego Sanchez, Gilbert Melendez and more. UFC 239 was the UFC’s biggest show of the summer, and it went down Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
For those who like a little back story to their fights, there were plenty of plotlines unfolding in the Nevada desert over the weekend. A win for Jones would leave him little in the way of contenders at light heavyweight, outside the rather new Johnny Walker, and overlooked ‘Overtime’ a.k.a. Corey Anderson. Luke Rockhold had a chance to make a big first impression at 205lbs, but failing an immediate shot, there was a case to be made for Jones to move up to heavyweight with a win, even just temporarily.
There, he’d have a chance to meet rival Daniel Cormier for the third time. With their second meeting overturned to a no contest following a drug test failure by Jones, it would be a chance to put an exclamation point on their rivalry.
Another story line — what comes next for double champ Amanda Nunes. A win, and she’d be looking at title defenses later in the year at either 135 or 145lbs. A loss, and she’d be forced to focus on the featherweight division, unless a rematch was in the cards.
