Fabian Edwards continued his rise to the top with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Jonathan Bosuku at Bellator 223.
Fabian Edwards is one of the most promising prospects in Bellator. The brother of top UFC welterweight contender Leon Edwards, Fabian is 7-0 with six stoppages. His last two knockouts have been very impressive, with a body kick KO and an upkick KO.
Jonathan Bosuku is a 7-4 French fighter on a five-fight win streak. On that streak, Bosuku has racked up a pair of knockouts.
Fabian Edwards fought a pretty clean first round, staying behind a jab and not letting Bosuku get inside despite his opponent have the center of the cage. Edwards simply slipped and ripped his way to a solid five minutes.
Edwards’ head movement was on point in the second round, any time Bosuku went for a strike, Edwards would smoothly dodge and land a straight of his own. The most significant strike of the round was a beautiful head kick by Edwards followed by a straight.
Edwards seemed to be just too big for his opponent. He allowed Bosuku to move forward, but tagged him with shots as soon as he stepped in. Edwards nailed Bosuku with a head kick that had him on wobbly legs. Bosuku snapped back to reality quickly and was able to throw an advancing Edwards to the canvas. Bosuku jumped on top, but Edwards was back up soon after. With 30 seconds left, Bosuku landed another takedown, but it wasn’t enough to cancel out Edwards’ success.
