A light heavyweight contest between Lativa’s Misha Cirkunov and Australia’s Jimmy Crute has been added to UFC Vancouver.
Light heavyweight contender Misha Cirkunov returns to face rising contender Jimmy Crute at UFC Vancouver in September. MMADNA.NL first reported the news.
Misha Cirkunov (14-5) is coming off a tough stretch in his las four bouts, losing three of them, all by first-round knockout. However, those knockout losses were to former title challengers Volkan Oezdemir and Glover Teixeira, and most recently to top Brazilian prospect Johnny Walker. The knockout at the hands of Walker only took 36 seconds, when Walker landed a flying knee that ended Cirkunov’s night. The 32-year-old looks to return to winning ways at home, as he still holds a winning record of 5-3 in the Octagon. Cirkunov has notched submission wins over Patrick Cummins, Nikita Krylov, and Ion Cutelaba in the promotion. Cirkunov has finished 12 of his 14 wins, eight of which have ended by way of submission.
Jimmy Crute (10-0) is coming off a first-round knockout victory over Sam Alvey in February. The Australian earned his UFC opportunity on Dana White’s Contender Series, scoring a knockout victory over Chris Birchler. In his other Octagon appearance, Crute submitted Scotland’s Paul Craig in the third round via kimura. The 23-year-old is a former HEX Fight Series champion, where he defended the title twice. In 10 wins, Crute has seven stoppages, four by knockout and three by submission.
UFC Vancouver will be live from British Columbia, Canada, on September 14. Neither a venue nor a main event has been announced. The card bout order is as follows:
- Antonio Carlos Junior vs. Uriah Hall
- David Branch vs. Andrew Sanchez
- Augusto Sakai vs. Marcin Tybura
