The Combate Americas card on June 28 is quickly taking shape as six more fights have been announced that will feature talent from the state of New Mexico.
The Combate Americas event in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, on June 28 is quickly taking shape as more fights have been announced that will see local talent in action.
A co-main event in the bantamweight division has been announced that will see Brenda “Boom Boom” Gonzales (9-4) take on undefeated Marilia “Tigress” Fanta (3-0) in a bout expected to deliver fireworks. A New Mexico native, Gonzales is looking for her second win in a row. Fighting out of Miami by way of Brazil, Fanta is a former Muay Thai champion who will be looking to record her fourth consecutive victory since making the move to MMA in 2017.
In men’s flyweight action, Jaime Alvarez (8-1) will square off with Joby Sanchez (12-5) of Albuquerque. Alvarez is riding a four-fight win streak going into the bout while Sanchez has previous experience competing in both the UFC and on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.
Several bouts have been announced for the preliminary card:
- Roman “La Bestia” Alcantar (6-1) vs. Juan Ramon “Tyson” Grano Medina (6-4-1) – Middleweight
- Javier Cepeda (1-0) vs. Jesus Villegas (0-0) – Flyweight
- Daniel Martinez (0-0) vs. Patrick Ayala (0-0) – Welterweight
- Shyann Farmer (0-2) vs. Criszaida Adames (0-0) – Strawweight
The previously announced main event will feature Andres Quintana looking to add a championship belt after winning the Copa Combate last December. He will be taking on former opponent Bruno Cannetti after having previously stopped Cannetti in the tournament.
