Following a dangerous carjacking incident, some good news for Jessica Andrade, as her stolen car has been found.
After enduring a frightening ordeal on Thursday, a little bit of good news was delivered Saturday for UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade. The newly crowned 115lb queen and wife Fernanda Gomes were carjacked two days ago in their native Brazil. After being robbed of their vehicle at gunpoint in the Brazilian city of Niteroi, the story quickly made the rounds in the media — and immediately brought to mind a similar incident involving UFC and Pride legend Shogun Rua from years back.
However, the good news Saturday was that Andrade’s car has at least been recovered. The champ announced the news on Instagram (Instagram Stories).
“Thank you for everything. The car is already here at home, I went to the police station today, so everything is alright. Nothing bad happened to me and to Fernanda, we’re fine,” Andrade said in a video statement (via MMA Fighting).
“Life goes on. I won’t be the first or the last person to get robbed and carjacked, but that’s it, we’re just another statistic now,” the UFC champion added with a laugh. “Thanks, guy.”
Andrade won the UFC’s 115lb championship at UFC 237 in May. No time frame has been set for her first title defense.
