The main event of UFC 237 is a strawweight title fight between champion Rose Namajunas and former bantamweight Jessica Andrade. Namajunas has won six of her last seven fights, with the last two coming against former dominant champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Andrade was 4-3 in the UFC at bantamweight before shedding 20 pounds and going 6-1 with three stoppages. Andrade received just one more pick than Namajunas.
The co-main event features the legendary Anderson Silva taking on former heavyweight Jared Cannonier. Cannonier started at heavyweight in the Octagon, going 1-1, then dropped to light heavyweight, where he went 2-3. He’s now coming off his middleweight debut, where he knocked out David Branch. One of the greatest fighters ever, Anderson Silva, returned from a near two-year layoff when he took on current interim champion Israel Adesanya in a classic striking showcase. Silva was slightly favored, with 11 of 19 picks going his way.
Jose Aldo looks to prevent Alexander Volkanovski from reaching the featherweight title picture. After dropping a pair of fights to Max Holloway in 2017, Aldo looks like his legendary self again, with great wins against Jeremy Stephens and Renato Moicano. Volkanovski is 6-0 in the UFC and 19-1 in his career, with his latest win coming against featherweight great Chad Mendes. All but three writers picked Aldo.
Thiago Alves takes on Argentian Laureano Staropoli. Alves is a former welterweight title contender who is 2-4 in his last six. However, he is coming off a win against Max Griffin. Staropoli is on a six-fight win streak and most recently won in his UFC debut by going to a decision for the first time in his career. All but two writers picked Alves.
With the late removal of Francisco Trinaldo vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira (Ferreira had kidney stones), only four of the five UFC 237 main card fights were picked.
