Arjan Bhullar takes on undefeated heavyweight Juan Adams tomorrow at UFC Ottawa and he believes that Adams will not be able to hang with his skillset.
Arjan Bhullar will be making his return to the Octagon this weekend when he faces ‘The Kraken’, Juan Adams at UFC Ottawa. A decorated wrestler, this will be Bhullar’s fourth appearance in the Octagon and this will be the first time he’ll be facing someone with an undefeated record. This also might be a turning point in his career as a loss to a fellow prospect can send one far behind. Ahead of this fight, he took some time to answer a few questions.
Paarth Pande: Juan Adams holds an undefeated record, securing all of his wins via knockout. What are your thoughts on him?
Arjan Bhullar: He’s a big dude who cuts down weight. He has a lot of power if you just stay in front of him, just like every other heavyweight. Aside from that, I think my uniqueness is what will set us apart during this fight. He hasn’t been tested on a wrestling mat or in a cage by someone of my caliber.
PP: What are your thoughts on the current state of the heavyweight division? Do you think that the younger generation is taking over the division?
AB: I will never knock on DC [Daniel Cormier], our champ. You have to respect that. He gives hope to clean athletes to be champions. He’s clean and he’s the champ-champ. Beyond that, lots of things are changing. I just try to copy what DC’s been doing.
PP: Many MMA promotions have started paying attention to the Indian MMA scene. Do you think you can lead the UFC into the Indian market?
AB: We’ve got to get on that. There are other people in that space pushing for that. It’s an untapped market. India is ripe and ready to go. They know combat sports and they know me. It’s a natural fit. I can’t wait to get out there.
UFC Ottawa will be live on ESPN+ in the USA, TSN 5 in Canada on May 4, and Sony Ten 2 and Sony Ten 2 HD in India on May 5.
