The Korean Zombie and Brazil’s Renato Moicano have agreed to a key featherweight clash at UFC Greenville in June, per a new report.
Fan favorite The Korean Zombie (properly Chan Sung Jung) is set to return this summer at UFC Greenville. That’s according to a report from Combate, who note that the South Korean star has agreed to a fight with Renato Moicano. Should the fight come to pass, it will be Zombie’s first fight back after a thrilling five round battle with Yair Rodriguez at UFC Denver last year.
The Denver battle with Rodriguez, part of the UFC’s 25th anniversary celebration, was a candidate for Fight of the Year, and ended in the fifth frame with a last second (literally) elbow from Rodriguez, who had been losing the fight to that point. Both men wound up in hospital following the bout. For Zombie (14-5), it was just his second fight back since an extended absence to complete his mandatory military service in his native South Korea.
Moicano (13–2–1), meanwhile, fell to Jose Aldo in February. The TKO loss to the former featherweight champ snapped a two-fight win streak for the Brazilian. He’d previously picked up wins over Cub Swanson and Calvin Kattar.
UFC Greenville, a.k.a. UFC Fight Night 154, takes place June 22 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, SC. The card includes the following bouts thus far:
