Neil Magny has been linked to several opponents, but it is now being reported that he is in talks to take on rising contender Vicente Luque at UFC Rochester.
Farah Hannoun was the first to report the potential addition to UFC Rochester.
First, it was reported that Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos would get his step up in competition against Neil Magny in Rochester. Then, Michael Chiesa responded to the news by saying that he would, in fact, be fighting Magny at UFC 238. Now, it is Vicente Luque who could be taking on Magny.
Vicente Luque broke into the promotion through The Ultimate Fighter, going 1-1 on the show and falling in the finale, which was his promotional debut. Since then, Luque is 8-1, finishing all of his victories. The one loss is to current top contender Leon Edwards. Luque holds notable victories over Belal Muhammad, Niko Price, and most recently Bryan Barberena. The New Jersey native has three submissions and five knockouts.
Neil Magny has fought 20 times since joining the UFC in 2013. Magny is 14-6 in those fights, tying a record for wins in a calendar year with five along the way. Magny, an Ultimate Fighter veteran has notable victories over Carlos Condit, Johny Hendricks, and Kelvin Gastelum. Most recently, the Colorado resident had a two-fight losing streak snapped by Santiago Ponzinibbio.
UFC Rochester takes place on May 18 from the Blue Cross Arena in upstate New York. The card is headlined by former champion Rafael dos Anjos welcoming Kevin Lee to the welterweight division. Also on the card, Megan Anderson and Invicta FC champion Felicia Spencer battle in a featherweight bout.
