After appearing on DWTNCS Brazil and being booked into a big debut fight against Livia Renata Souza, Sarah Frota missed weight by a full seven pounds ahead of UFC Fortaleza.
UFC Fortaleza (UFC Fight Night 147/UFC on ESPN+ 2) takes place Saturday night on ESPN+. Going down in the tumultuous Fortaleza, Brazil, the event is topped by a four-pack of Brazilian talent: underrated bantamweight Raphael Assuncao meets former WSOF champ Marlon Moraes for the second time in the main event. Prior to that, the co-main event sees ex-featherweight champ Jose Aldo take on fellow Brazilian Renato Moicano.
There’s plenty of other standout names from the host nation as well, including former multi-time title challenger Demian Maia, UFC submission record-setter Charles Oliveira, and former welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves.
At Friday’s UFC Fortaleza weigh-in, however, a couple of fighters struggled. Sarah Frota, who looked rather large next to Livia Renata Souza a day earlier during face-offs, missed the strawweight limit by a full seven pounds. Magomed Bibulatov also missed the mark, a pound over the non-title fight limit at flyweight.
