England’s ‘Prospect’ returns, as Nathaniel Wood will face Jose Quinonez at UFC London this March.
Nathaniel Wood will face Jose Quinonez at UFC London. The bantamweight fight was announced by Wood himself at Wednesday’s UFC London press conference. The card, alternately UFC on ESPN+ 5 or UFC Fight Night 147, is set to be topped by Darren Till and Jorge Masvidal. In addition to the welterweight main event, another key 170lb match-up is also on the card: Leon Edwards vs. Gunnar Nelson.
The Wood announcement, however, was a bit of a surprise mainly since the UFC had Wood himself on hand to reveal the booking. Known as ‘The Prospect,’ Wood (15-3) has won his first two fights in the promotion. Both came stateside, so this will mark the first time Wood has fought for the UFC in his native England.
Wood’s current seven fight win streak dates back to 2016, and includes stops in Bellator MMA and Cage Warriors.
Opponent Jose Quinonez (7-2) is on a winning streak of his own, a four fight run all under the UFC banner. ‘El Teco’ has wins over Diego Rivas and Teruto Ishihara during that span.
UFC London is set to go down March 16 at the O2 Arena in London, England.
