A prospect vs. prospect fight between debuting fighters at UFC Fortaleza will see bantamweight Felipe Colares put to the test.
The UFC is coming to Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil on February 2. The final bout was announced January 24 by Combate who noted a bantamweight bout would round off the card. It’s rare you see two prospects make their debut and face off against each other, but Felipe Colares and Geraldo de Freitas will do just that.

24-years-old
Macapa, Amapa, Brazil

What to expect in the UFC from Felipe Colares:
Colares is a stud and at only 24 years of age, he has a very bright future. On the feet, he’s not afraid to stand and bang. That, however, may be his one downfall as he tends to take too many strikes. He’s quick and explosive while utilizing leg kicks well, but on the feet it’s his output that is the difference. Colares has landed some sick arm drags and some beautiful judo throws in his career as well as well-timed shots. Colares is very savvy on the mat with excellent jiu-jitsu and is a real threat with chokes. He is at best when on the mat just due to his BJJ, but also has some solid ground and pound.
How he matches up with Geraldo de Freitas?
There really isn’t too much footage on Freitas in order to get a good read on him. With that said he is the Shooto Brazil champion, with a solid record (11-4). From the footage available, it seems he has a good ground game but Colares is excellent on the mat as well. You can expect a good scrap in this fight, which airs early on the UFC Fight Night 144 card this weekend in Fortaleza, Brazil.
