UFC Prague continues to shape up, adding promising Italian welterweight Carlo Pedersoli against Contender Series alum Dwight Grant.
Following a report from Sherdog’s own Tudor Leonte, sources confirm to Cagesidepress.com that Italian up-and-comer Carlo Pedersoli Jr. (11-2) will face Dwight “The Body Snatcher” Grant (8-2) at UFC Prague.
Dwight Grant, a Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series winner will try to get back in track after a split decision loss against the more experienced Zak Ottow. He’s doing that by flying from the US to the Czech Republic in order to lock horns with one of the brightest stars in Italian MMA, Carlo Pedersoli Jr.
“Semento” made his UFC debut in May when he fought and won against Brad Scott via split decision. Before that, he shocked European MMA fans with a solid win against long-time veteran Nicolas Dalby. In his last bout, he lost in less than 40 seconds against the very experienced Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira on short notice.
Both men are coming off a loss against veteran fighters and this matchup could tell us which of the two young guns have the skillset to fight and stay in the stacked UFC welterweight division.
Nothing is official yet, but sources confirm to Cageside Press that the promotion’s intention is to make that fight happen and an agreement has been reached.
UFC Prague takes place on February 23 inside the O2 Arena in the Czech Republic. The main event is a barn-burner between light heavyweights Thiago Santos and Jan Blachowicz.
