Petr Yan continued to impress since joining the UFC, stopping Douglas Silva de Andrade after two rounds of action at UFC 232.
Petr Yan turned heads over in Russia by winning the ACB bantamweight title, and carried that success over to the UFC with dominant wins in his first two appearances. Douglas Silva de Andrade, win or lose, is a very exciting fighter. The Brazilian owns a 3-2 record in the Octagon, most recently defeating Marlon Vera.
Douglas Silva de Andrade landed an immediate haymaker, which Yan answered with a head kick. A heavy body kick landed for de Andrade, then Yan caught the next body kick that was thrown and dumped him onto the canvas. Yan landed a hard hook and a leg kick, and the Brazilian clipped him with an uppercut. Yan fired back with a long right hand then a three punch combination.
Yan landed a leg kick and de Andrade landed another right hand. With 20 seconds left in the round, Yan drove de Andrade to the canvas with a clean double leg. It was a very good round of back-and-forth striking.
Yan started the second round with a leg kick, and de Andrade landed his first shot of the round with a left hand. A straight right hand connected clean for Yan, and he started to open up. Quick straight punches were landing with ease as de Andrade was looking for the home run swing.
Yan established a headlock against the cage and eventually dragged him to the canvas. Yan peppered his opponent with knees and punches as he started to stand up, then took him down again. From side control, Yan landed an array of elbows, cutting open de Andrade. The hits kept coming at full blast from Yan until the bell.
In between rounds, de Andrade’s corner called it a night, determining that their fighter took more than enough damage at the end of the second round.
