Callout successful! Mickey Gall will face Diego Sanchez at UFC 235 next March.
Ask, and you shall receive. It’s the same old story again and again in the UFC. This time, it’s Mickey Gall once again cashing in on a callout. After requesting the original Ultimate Fighter Diego Sanchez, Gall is getting ‘The Nightmare’ at UFC 235. The promotion announced the bout Friday via social media.

Gall has had some solid success with callouts thus far in his career. He broke into the UFC by calling out (then defeating) CM Punk, and would later add Sage Northcutt to his hit list. Still yet to hit his prime, the 26-year old Gall (5-1) is coming off a win over the gritty George Sullivan at UFC Lincoln earlier this year. That win saw him bounce back from the first loss of his pro career, against Randy Brown. It also saw him call out Sanchez, who appeared on the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter, winning the show.
Diego Sanchez (28-11) also got back in the win column recently, defeating Craig White in a unanimous decision at UFC 228. That snapped a two-fight skid for Sanchez, who is 3-3 in his last six fights. After an experiment at featherweight, then returning to lightweight, Sanchez has been plying his trade at welterweight of late. Which has allowed this old lion vs. young lion match-up to come to fruition.
UFC 235 takes place March 2, 2019 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. No main event has been officially announced for the card, though Daniel Cormier is a possibility to appear.
