Jinh Yu Frey and Minna Grusander made championship weight for tomorrow’s atomweight title fight at Invicta FC 33 — but Jamie Moyle was way over for her strawweight bout.
Invicta FC was back in action on Saturday night in their home base of Kansas City, MO. With Invicta FC 33, the promotion was offering up an instant rematch atomweight title fight between Jinh Yu Frey and Minna Grusander. Frey had defeated Grusander via a decision earlier in the year, but the bout was judged close enough to run it back.
All fighters hit the scales on Friday ahead of Saturday night’s fights, and both Frey and Grusander had no issues making championship weight. Jamie Moyle, however, returning from a stint in the UFC, blew way past the strawweight limit, coming in a full weight class above opponent Brianna Van Buren. Moyle weighed in at 125.1lbs for the strawweight fight, over nine pounds above the max. She was fined 25% of her purse. Incredibly, the fight will move forward.
