Raquel Pennington came in over the limit, while all other fighters (eventually) made weight at Friday’s UFC Denver weigh-in.
Denver, CO — The UFC Denver weigh-ins are in the books, and all but one fighter made weight in the end. All fights are a go, and that includes both the main event between Yair Rodriguez and The Korean Zombie, plus the promising co-main between Cowboy Cerrone and Mike Perry.
The only real snag on Friday morning in Denver came when Raquel Pennington hit the scales. Despite using a barrier, she came in over the bantamweight limit, and did not re-weigh. Pennington had talked of her struggles with hypothyroidism coming into the bout, and noted she started camp heavy as a result of the condition.
Debutante Maycee Barber also came in a little heavy, but did take an extra hour to shed off the final half-pound to the strawweight limit, hitting the mark on her second attempt.
Barber, as a result, is a go for her fight with fellow newcomer Hannah Cifers. Pennington’s fight is also on, but she will forfeit a portion of her purse to opponent Germaine de Randamie.
