Former Invicta FC bantamweight Queen Yana Kunitskaya returns at UFC 233 to face Marion Reneau.
Anaheim’s upcoming UFC 233 card has added a promising women’s bantamweight bout. MMANytt.com was first to report news of the match-up, which will see former Invicta FC champ Yana Kunitskaya take on Marion Reneau. The Anaheim card is the first PPV event of the UFC’s 2019 calendar.
Kunitskaya (11–4 (1)) will enter the night off her first win in the UFC. That came via a unanimous decision against Lina Lansberg at UFC 229 last month. The win, however, came on a night that saw Khabib Nurmagomedov spark a near-riot, and Derrick Lewis give on of the best octagon interviews of all time. However, having come into the UFC to challenge Cris Cyborg (with no luck), Kunitskaya now has a chance to quietly put together her first win streak in the promotion.
Opponent Marion Reneau (9–4–1), at 41, is the oldest female fighter on the UFC roster. She’ll look to continue turning back the close against Kunitskaya. Last time out, Reneau had a four fight unbeaten streak snapped by Cat Zingano. She holds wins over Sara McMann and Jessica Andrade in the UFC, both of whom have challenged for titles.
UFC 233 takes place January 26, 2019 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.
