UFC 232 has added a potentially quick fight between heavyweight knockout specialists Andrei Arlovski and Walt Harris.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal first reported the addition to UFC 232.
A pair of streaky heavyweights collide in Las Vegas later this year as Andrei Arlovski looks to put an end to a losing skid, and Walt Harris attempts to start a run. Both men come into the contest losing two of their last three.
Andrei Arlovski has seen better days. A UFC champion way back in 2005, “Pitbull” spent 2008-2013 in a multitude of promotions before returning to the Octagon. He let fans know he was back in a big way by winning four straight fights, but came up short in a title eliminator against Stipe Miocic. The Belarusian heavyweight would go on to drop his next four appearances in the midst of a current 2-7 run. Arlovski won two consecutive bouts against Junior Albini and Stefan Struve prior to losing in his last two appearances.
Walt Harris is an all-or-nothing fighter, winning by knockout in all 11 of his career victories. Despite his vicious knockout power, “The Big Ticket’s” record in the Octagon is 4-6. Granted, that includes a fight against former champion Fabricio Werdum on a day’s notice that certainly earned him brownie points with the promotion. A tough-to-swallow DQ loss at UFC 217 set Harris back even further, but he is back on track after knocking out Daniel Spitz in his last appearance.
UFC 232 takes place on December 29 in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main event features the (possible) return of Jon Jones as he takes on Alexander Gustafsson for the light heavyweight title in a rematch of their epic brawl. The co-main event for the evening is a superfight between female champions Amanda Nunes and Cris Cyborg which will be fought at 145 pounds, putting Cyborg’s belt on the line.
