Two of the top women’s flyweights in the UFC will clash in Toronto, as Jessica Eye meets Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 231.
Toronto’s UFC 231 card has added a women’s flyweight affair. On Wednesday, the UFC announced that Jessica Eye will meet Katlyn Chookagian at the event, taking place at the Scotiabank Arena (formerly the Air Canada Centre) on December 8. Eye vs. Chookagian will join a stacked event in Toronto, which boasts two title fights, including a women’s flyweight championship bout between Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Eye (13-6, 1NC) has revitalized her career since returning to the 125lb weight class, where she fought prior to joining the UFC. After going 1-5 (1NC) as a bantamweight, ‘Evil’ Eye is 2-0 back in the flyweight division, with wins over Kalindra Faria and Jessica-Rose Clark both coming this calendar year. A third straight win in the weight class would put her on the short list of contenders for whoever claims the 125lb title (which was recently stripped from Nicco Montano) between Shevchenko and Jedrzejczyk.
Katlyn Chookagian (11-1), meanwhile, is in a similar spot. She will look to build on a three fight win streak, two of which have come in the flyweight division. ‘Blonde Fighter’ most recently defeated former Strikeforce athlete and UFC bantamweight title challenger Alexis Davis at UFC on FOX 30 in Calgary, AB. She also owns a victory over 125lb standout and Ultimate Fighter 26 finalist Sijara Eubanks.
UFC 231 takes place December 8 in Toronto, Ontario. The card is set to be headlined by a men’s featherweight title fight between Max Holloway and Brian Ortega.
