Bellator 208 on Saturday saw ‘The Last Emperor’ return to form, as Fedor Emelianenko completely rag-dolled Chael Sonnen on route to a berth in the World Heavyweight Grand Prix final.
The second of Bellator’s back-to-back shows, Saturday night’s Bellator 208 crowned the second finalist in the promotion’s world heavyweight grand prix. That, of course, turned out to be Fedor Emelianenko, who had his way with Chael Sonnen for nearly a round, picking up a TKO victory in the process.
In the co-main event, meanwhile, Benson Henderson had a similar return to form, as he dominated Saad Awad. The three-round unanimous decision makes it two in a row for ‘Smooth,’ which should propel him back into the title picture at 155lbs.
In other heavyweight action on Saturday night at Bellator 208, Cheick Kongo earned his seventh straight win in Bellator MMA. That came when he knocked out former UFC heavyweight Tim Johnson in the first round, in Johnson’s promotional debut.
Anatoly Tokov was another standout at Bellator 208, as he defeated fellow Russian and former Bellator middleweight champ Alexander Shlemenko. The win was Tokov’s third in a row in Bellator, and easily his most impressive.
