Khabib Nurmagomedov may return home to an angry father promising discipline when he heads back to Russia.

Khabib Nurmagomedov will be facing discipline from the Nevada State Athletic Commission following his actions at UFC 229. He’ll also be facing discipline from his father. And in this case, the latter may be worse. Speaking to Russian media, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov did not mince words when it came to his son’s decision to jump out of the octagon and start a brawl. The elder Nurmagomedov was not able to be in Las Vegas for the fight, due to issues obtaining a VISA. Despite that, he took full responsibility for what happened.

“Probably, the most severe sanctions for Khabib are my attitude. I will be very tough on this plan [of action]. I warned him,” the elder Nurmagomedov said (via REN.tv).

“You can do whatever you want in the octagon. Outside of it, there’s children, women, strangers,” he pointed out. “I don’t even condemn [Zubaira] Tukhogov, who jumped and fought with his hands. Abubakar [Nurmagomedov], Rizvan [Magomedov],” he added, addressing members of Khabib’s camp who entered the octagon to attack McGregor. “This fight went inside the octagon.” However, his son exiting the cage infuriated Abdulmanap. “Khabib deceitfully walked away from the guard, climbed, jumped,” he pointed out, latter adding that his son diving into the crowd “was the limit of my nervous shocks. Still, I am responsible for this. This is my team. [Just] because I wasn’t allowed to go to America, I don’t deny responsibility.”

Elsewhere, Khabib’s father was quoted as saying that “my punishment to Khabib will be much stronger than the ones from UFC.” He added that discipline should come first. “What did we teach you?”
