The UFC’s debut in Argentina has added a women’s flyweight battle between Veronica Macedo and Maryna Moroz.
The UFC is continuing its expansion in South America with UFC Argentina. Following its debut in Santiago, Chile earlier this year, the promotion is heading to Buenos Aires, Argentina, marking its debut in the nation. On Thursday, the promotion also added women’s flyweight bout to the card, which is beginning to take shape. In that, Veronica Macedo, who has lost both her UFC outings to date, will take on Maryna Moroz.
Macedo (5-2-1) made her UFC debut as a bantamweight, losing to Ashlee Evans-Smith at UFC Fight Night 93 in 2016. After a couple of cancelled bouts, she returned earlier this year as a flyweight, losing to Andrea Lee in KGB’s promotional debut. At 0-2 in the promotion, her back is against the wall, but the Venezuelan will at least be close to home when she faces Moroz.
Ukraine’s Maryna Moroz (8–3), on the other hand, will be fighting in South America for the first time at UFC Argentina. Moroz has gone 3-3 in the UFC since joining the organization in 2015. However, after defeating names like Joanne Calderwood and Danielle Taylor, she has dropped two straight to Carla Esparza and Angela Hill.
UFC Argentina (UFC Fight Night 140) takes place November 17 at the Estadio Mary Terán de Weiss in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
