Diego Sanchez, the original Ultimate Fighter, returns at UFC 228 in Dallas, where he’s set to take on England’s Craig White.
Ultimate Fighter 1 winner Diego Sanchez still isn’t done yet. The UFC has announced that Sanchez will return at UFC 228 to meet Craig White at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on September 8. Sanchez just recently took part in a TUF 1 reunion, expected to air as part of a documentary to tie in with the UFC’s 25th anniversary later this year.
After starting his career at 17-0 and winning the inaugural Ultimate Fighter at middleweight, Sanchez never quite hit the heights many were hoping ‘The Nightmare’ would achieve. He did, however, challenge B.J. Penn for the lightweight title back at UFC 107. That said, Sanchez has taken part in some classic brawls, and his walk-forward, bite-down-and-swing style is always a crowd pleaser. Last time out, Sanchez (27–11) was smashed into the canvas by some Matt Brown elbows. He’s 2-3 in his last five, dating back to 2016.
Craig White (14-8), a native of England, boasts an impressive 100% finishing rate in his wins as a pro thus far. He’s looking to bounce back from a short notice loss to Neil Magny in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 130.
