Yamauchi was last seen against Michael Chandler at Bellator 192 in January. There, the Japanese-born Brazilian lightweight dropped a decision to the former champion. Now 22–4, Yamauchi will look to bounce back against another former victim of Chandler, Patricky Pitbull.
Properly Patricky Freire (19–8), the elder Pitbull brother has gone on a three fight win streak since his loss to Chandler. During that run, he has racked up wins over Derek Campos, Benson Henderson, and Josh Thompson. Another victory would be enough to earn him a title shot, in theory, were Brent Primus not awol, and Chandler already overdue for a rematch with the champion.
Denise Kielholtz (2-1), meanwhile, the Bellator Kickboxing flyweight champ, will look to improve her MMA win streak to three when she faces Veta Areaga (4-2) at the event. Artega enters the bout off a win over former flyweight title contender Emily Ducote.
Bellator 205 takes place September 21 at the CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho.
