With no issues at the scales, all fights are a go for UFC on FOX 30 tomorrow, taking place at the Saddledome in Calgary, AB.
At a time when weight cutting is a hot button topic, and missing weight seems to be happening more and more, UFC Calgary (UFC on FOX 30) bucked the trend. Friday morning, all twenty-six fighters set to compete at the event hit the scales — and every last one made weight. In fact, for the most part it was an orderly affair, with only a handful of fighters weighing in later in the allowed window.
Jose Aldo, the former UFC featherweight champion, was one of those. Aldo opted to weigh in behind a towel, but never did have to strip down, making weight with his fight shorts on on the first attempt.
Another former champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, weighed in early in the window, easily making the strawweight limit. Tecia Torres, her opponent, was all smiles on the scale, weighing in early as well.
Canadian lightweight Olivier-Aubin Mercier was the last man to hit the scales. ‘The Canadian Gangster’ clocked in at 156lbs.
