Welterweight prospect Mickey Gall is set to return to the octagon at UFC Lincoln (UFC Fight Night 135) opposite the always dangerous George Sullivan next month.
Mickey Gall made a name for himself beating names. Specifically, the names CM Punk and Sage Northcutt. After being brought into the UFC off Dana White’s Lookin’ for a Fight as a foil for Punk, Gall went on to beat the UFC’s golden child, Northcutt (along the way, he also bested Mike ‘The Truth’ Jackson, but who hasn’t, right? Oh…). Then he ran up against Randy Brown, who served up the first loss of Gall’s career at UFC 217 last November. That was the last UFC fans saw of Mickey Gall, but per the Lincoln Journal Star (warning: ad wall), Gall will return to face veteran George Sullivan at UFC Lincoln next month.
Gall (4-1) saw his stock on the rise after the Jackson/Punk/Northcutt trifecta of wins, and shouldn’t have been knocked back too far with that first loss. Sullivan (17–6 (1)), however, is a tough out for anyone. The gritty New Jersey native is 3-3 in the UFC, and will head into the fight off back-to-back losses for the first time in his career.
Headlined by a lightweight scrap between Justin Gaethje and James Vick, UFC Lincoln takes place at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 25, 2018.
