Nick Diaz was not alone when he was detained on domestic battery charges last month. A non-responsive female was transported to hospital in addition to the victim in Diaz’s alleged domestic battery case.
When news broke late last month that Nick Diaz had been arrested on domestic violence charges, needless to say the situation looked bleak. Charged with domestic battery in the first degree and domestic battery via strangulation, Diaz — who always seems on the verge of a comeback until something comes up — was easily looking at jail time. Not exactly a saint, with numerous black marks on his career as a fighter, it felt like Diaz’s lifestyle (his Instagram in recent months had been peppered with shots of the fighter partying) had finally caught up to him.
Yet new details from the original arrest report and Diaz’s custody documents from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department shed additional light on the situation. Cageside Press obtained those documents as well as the Domestic Violence Report from the Las Vegas Justice Court, all of which confirm details reported on earlier in the week by MMA Fighting. Per the LVPD Domestic Violence Report, the victim (whose name Cageside Press has opted not to disclose due to the nature of the incident) suffered bruising to both legs, reddening to the neck and head, as well as a possibly broken hip. She was also described as in pain, crying when police attended to her, nursing her injuries, and displaying irregular breathing. On the matter of whether the victim was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the report lists simply “both.”
That particular report, as it pertained to Diaz, listed a single injury displayed by the fighter: a bump/lump on the left elbow. The report described this as a “week old injury.” That’s no doubt a reference to the injury Diaz displayed on social media just over a week earlier (you can catch a glimpse of it below):

As per the original arrest report, officers responding to a domestic disturbance call found the victim in visible pain and unable to walk. She referred to Diaz as her “on and off” boyfriend, and stated that the pair became engaged in a confrontation when she confronted him over sleeping with one of her friends. Admitting that she threw a glass of water in his face, the victim reported that Diaz “grabbed her by the head and slammed her into the ground hitting her head against the floor.” She said she fled to the backyard of the home, only for Diaz to follow where he “picked her up and threw her down onto the concrete by the pool.” Landing on her hip on the corner of the pool, she found herself in what she described as “severe pain” and crawled to a friend’s room, asking her to call the police (her friend was unable to find a phone to do so). The victim then made her way to a neighbor’s, again crawling, and had them call the authorities.
Per the victim, she had been on again, off again with Diaz for two and a half years. However, he had never been violent until just days earlier. A fight between the two the day before the battery incident resulted on bruises to her thighs, she told police. In her opinion, Diaz’s change in behavior coincided with his use of cocaine.
As per the arrest report, officers, having spoken to the victim, attended the residence of Nick Diaz, where they found another female unresponsive on a couch inside the home. This second female was transported to hospital and listed as “not very responsive” by officers, who noted knocking, banging on a glass window, and shining a light on her did not rouse her. At this time, Nick Diaz and two other people in the residence were detained.
The victim was also transported to hospital, where a Detective interviewed her. Here, the arrest report notes that the victim’s story changed. Instead of picking her up and throwing her onto the concrete, in the backyard, Diaz “grabbed her by the throat with one hand for approx. 30 seconds choking her.” He then threatened to throw her into the pool. Diaz then grabbed her by the face and pushed her towards the pool, she stated. That caused her to grab on to him, making her land short of the water. The end result being she hit her hip on the edge of the pool.
The victim’s friend (who she had originally crawled to for help) reported that she had met the pair in a club earlier in the evening. She told police that upon returning to the residence the pair got into an altercation, with the victim shoving Diaz. The friend did corroborate the victim’s story about waking her up to call the police. However she seemed to have missed the bulk of the confrontation. She also told police that since she couldn’t find her own phone, she borrowed one from a neighbor. Unfortunately, she misplaced that as well and eventually went back to sleep.
Hospital staff at Spring Valley Hospital were unable to determine whether or not the victim had a fractured hip due to “other medical issues,” the report states. Due to the victim stating the pair were in an on again, off again relationship, LVPD determined the two had a domestic relationship and charged Diaz accordingly.
An acquaintance of Diaz, Matt Staudt, would later dispute the relationship claim, referring to the victim as a stalker.
Either way, Diaz will now have to navigate some murky legal waters. The welterweight has not fought since moving up to face Anderson Silva in something of a super fight back in 2015. Since then, he has dealt with suspensions for marijuana and whereabouts failures.
None of the allegations against Diaz have been proven in court.
