It’s the opportunity of a lifetime for England’s Craig White, as he’s been selected as a short-notice replacement to face Neil Magny at UFC Liverpool.
Neil Magny is staying on the UFC Liverpool card after all. After original opponent Gunnar Nelson was forced from the event due to injury, the UFC had to scramble to find a replacement. And with few available options, they’ve given a relative unknown the chance of a lifetime. Craig White, a.k.a. ‘The Thundercat,’ a Cage Warriors veteran, gets the nod to take on Magny in the co-main event battle. The promotion announced the news Tuesday.
Magny (20-6), who has won five of his last seven, enters the bout off a victory over Carlos Condit at UFC 219. The top welterweight is ranked 9th in the division currently, and has proven to be a tough test, holding wins over Condit, Kelvin Gastelum, Johny Hendricks, and Hector Lombard.
White, meanwhile, has secured finishes in all of his professional MMA wins. At 14-7 and on a four fight win streak, he’ll face a considerable step up in competition in Liverpool, but should have the local crowd firmly behind him.

White already had a bout at Cage Warriors 95 in July pending, though no opponent had been announced. Clearly, however, this was an opportunity ‘The Thundercat’ could not pass up.
UFC Liverpool, also known as UFC Fight Night 130, takes place May 27 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. The main event features Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson taking on local hero Darren Till.
