Nate Diaz has been notably absent from the octagon for almost two years, but he’s apparently more than happy to throw down outside of it.
Nate Diaz hasn’t fought in the octagon since 2016, but he’s apparently not adverse to getting some shots in elsewhere. At Friday’s Combate Americas card in Los Angeles, Diaz and Clay Guida became involved in a physical confrontation, according to eye witnesses. Diaz was on hand at the event in support of Chris Avila, who suffered a loss on the night. Guida and members of Team Alpha Male were also at the event supporting team mates. Cageside Press’ Gabriel Gonzalez was on hand and witnessed the commotion, noting that Diaz, Guida, and TAM founder Urijah Faber were among the crowd, that seemed to just keep growing.
According to Ultimate Fighter 27 cast member Tyler Diamond, Diaz unleashed a Stockton slap or two when Diamond got in between Guida and Diaz.
Nate Diaz just pushed Clay Guida from behind! & I ended up in the middle & he slapped me while his little entourage surround me. #209Bitches

I was talking face to face with Clay, he got pushed & I saw Nate & about ten other dudes so I stepped up with my arms out trying to descalate the situation & Nate then slapped me while one of his groupies rabbit punched me.

Reportedly, one of the Combate Americas ring girls was forced to check in with a medic, though it doesn’t appear she was seriously injured from the fracas. However, Guida’s manager told MMA Fighting that Diaz shoved Clay from behind, causing him to split his lip on a metal guard rail. Guida will apparently pursue the matter with local police.
Of course, it’s not the first time Diaz has been involved in altercations outside of his own fights, with incidents involving Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and others peppering his resume.
The UFC has not made any public comment on the incident, and it remains to be seen whether Diaz will face any punishment for the incident, though it would appear to be a violation of the promotion’s Fighter’s Code of Conduct.
Diaz of late has been linked to a bout with Georges St. Pierre at UFC 227, but the Stockton, CA native took the wind out of that sail recently.
