European nations will go to war at UFC Hamburg later this year!
An all-European heavyweight battle has been set for UFC Hamburg. On Friday, the UFC announced via it’s official European Twitter account and other social media outlets that Stefan Struve would meet Marcin Tybura at the event. Both Tybura and Struve, ranked eighth and eleventh in the heavyweight division, will enter the bout off back-to-back losses, making this a critical win for both men.
Struve (32-10), a towering Dutch behemoth at nearly seven feet tall, has lost to Alexander Volkov and Andrei Arlovski in his last two outings. ‘Skyscraper’ had picked up two wins prior to that, against Bigfoot Silva and Daniel Omielanczuk. However, the lanky heavyweight has struggled against the upper echelon of the division. Struve also has a ridiculous number of fights, with over forty professional contests despite being only thirty years old.
Marcin Tybura (16-4), meanwhile, has lost to both Derrick Lewis and Fabricio Werdum in his past two outings. Like Struve, he had a win streak going prior to his recent slump. The Polish heavyweight had won three straight, and will look to correct course against the taller, more experienced Dutchman.
UFC Hamburg (UFC Fight Night 134) is set to take place July 22 in Hamburg, Germany at the Barclaycard Arena. A light heavyweight tilt between Shogun Rua and Volkan Oezdemir is expected to headline the event.
