Top French bantamweight prospect Tom Duquesnoy went the distance with Terrion Ware at UFC London on Saturday.
In bantamweight action at UFC London on Saturday, France’s Tom Duquesnoy looked to get back on track against the struggling Terrion Ware. Ware was 0-2 in the UFC heading into the Fight Night event in London. With a likely cut coming with a third loss, his back was against the wall. Duquesnoy, meanwhile, a hot prospect who had recently suffered his first loss, was looking to rebuild.
‘The Fire Kid’ opened with a big leg kick in this one. He soon had Terrion Ware retreating, looking to avoid having his feet taken out from under him. Duquesnoy proved both aggressive and elusive; he pushed forward and took the fight to his opponent, but was nowhere to be found when Ware launched counters. Ware, however, would stay in it, landing a body shot later in the round. He ate a shin to the side of the head after that, but was none the worse for wear. A Duquesnoy jab/cross combination caught Ware, but again, he stayed right there.
Round two saw Ware pressing forward, leading with his jab and pressing the action. Duquesnoy countered, finishing his combinations with leg kicks. Yet while the French fighter had slowed, he was the more effective fighter of the pair. That continued early in the third round, which Tom Duquesnoy opened with a leg kick that buckled Terrion Ware’s knee. Ware’s heart was apparent, and he went to the body with uppercuts, and continued to walk down Duquesnoy. Yet it seemed like an exercise in futility. Ware would perhaps have an opening as Duquesnoy tired towards the end of the third. Yet a takedown by Ware was stuffed, and despite throwing more volume, he wasn’t doing the damage Duquesnoy was. That cost him — and Duquesnoy won the fight on all three scorecards.
Tom Duquesnoy def. Terrion Ware by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
