Another in an ongoing string of potential doping violations sees UFC lightweight Marco Polo Reyes in hot water.
Once again, a UFC fighter is in hot water with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. Continuing a seemingly endless flow of Anti-Doping Policy violations, the promotion announced Thursday that lightweight Marco Polo Reyes had been flagged by USADA for a failed drug test. The failure was the result of a sample collected earlier this month.
Per the UFC’s statement Thursday;
The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Marco Reyes of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on March 8, 2018.
USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Reyes. Under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.
Reyes (8-4) was last seen in action at UFC Fight Night 124 in January. There, he picked up a knockout victory over promotional newcomer Matt Frevola. It was the first loss of Frevola’s career, while Reyes improved to 4-1 in the UFC.
As is standard policy with violations of the UFC’s Anti-Doping Policy, neither the promotion nor USADA has released the substance(s) for which the fighter tested positive. That information will not be made public until the case comes to a conclusion.
