Asia’s largest MMA promotion returns to Malaysia next month with ONE Championship: Visions of Victory.
ONE Championship returns to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in March with Visions of Victory. The promotion announced the news in a press release Wednesday. Among the fighters featured on the card will be former welterweight title challenger Agilan Thani, who lost a title shot to Ben Askren previously. Christian Lee, brother of ONE women’s atomweight champ Angela Lee, will also appear at the event.
No main event was revealed on Wednesday. However, it was announced that Malaysia’s Thani, a 22-year old who lost a title bid to Askren last year, will face Amitesh Chaubey. Thani (8-1) bounced back from the Askren loss with a win over Sherif Mohamed in August. The Monarchy MMA fighter has spent nearly his entire career in ONE.
Amitesh Chaubey(5-4) will be making his promotional debut at Visions of Victory next month. The Indian fighter has been his entire career in that country’s Super Fight League. This welterweight clash will be an interesting test for Chaubey, who is coming off a loss to Abhishek Rana just over a year ago.
Also added to the ONE Championship: Visions of Victory, Christian Lee, brother of women’s atomweight Queen Angela Lee, will face Kazunori Yokota of Japan. Yokota (26-7), at age 39, will have a serious edge in experience over Lee (8-1). At just 19, Lee will also be Yokota’s junior by two decades.
Gianni Subba vs. Danny Kingad, Muhammad Aiman vs. Burn Soriano, Hisyam “Zephyrus” Samsudin vs. Jerome S. Payem, and a women’s flyweight fight between Jihin Radzuan and Puja Tomar were also announced for the card on Wednesday.
ONE Championship: Visions of Victory takes place March 9 at the Axiata Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
