ONE Championship: Global Superheroes took place Friday in Manila, The Philippines. The main event featured a rematch between former 125lb champion Kairat Akhmetov and the Philippines’ Geje Eustaquio. With local hero Eustaquio picking up gold in a five round decision, it was an exciting night for fans in the Philippines. The first six fights were finished within a round, a nearly unheard of statistic in other MMA promotions.
Ultimately, only two fights went the distance. Everything else ended in a stoppage.
The win for Geje Eustaquio now sets up a title unification fight with ONE flyweight champion Adriano Moraes. The two have fought once before, with Morales getting his hand raised at ONE: Rise of the Kingdom all the way back in 2014. ‘Black Diamond’ submitted Eustaquio that night via guilltoine choke. Currently, the Brazilian is on a four fight win streak, and hasn’t lost since a 2015 split decision against Kairat Akhmetov. Moraes has since avenged that loss, and won his title back in the process.
