Invicta FC’s vacant 115lb title won’t be vacant for long!
On March 24, Invicta FC will return with a strawweight title fight between Virna Jandiroba vs. Janaisa Morandin. Promotion President Shannon Knapp announced the pairing on Thursday. No venue was confirmed for the title fight, though Knapp noted in the announcement that there are plans to take Invicta FC on the road in 2018, including dates on the East Coast and in the South.
Janaisa Morandin, a.k.a. ‘Evil Princess,’ is 1-1 in Invicta FC to date. She last competed at Invicta FC 26, defeating Kinberly Tanaka Novaes. Prior to that, she’d suffered a loss in her promotional debut to former strawweight champ Livia Renata Souza. Souza had already lost her title to Angela Hill at that point; both Hill and Souza have since departed for the UFC. Overall, Morandin is 10-1 in her career.
Virna Jandiroba (12-0) is an undefeated strawweight hailing from Brazil. She made her promotional debut in Invicta at Invicta FC 26, where she submitted Amy Montenegro. A stellar ten of her twelve victories have come via submission. In addition to the win over Montenegro, Jandrioba holds notable wins over former UFC combatants Ericka Almeida and Lisa Ellis.
No additional fights were announced for the card though more are likely to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
